Octopus Letter Matching

Set this activity out on the wall or flat on a desk with the dot stickers and encourage your child to match the letters. When your child matches a letter, you can suggest, “That’s an M, for mom, mmmm.” Give encouragement while also confirming the letter; sound and pair it with a word to better reinforce phonemic awareness.

Materials

  • Dark and light blue dot stickers
  • Blue and black markers

How To

  • Sketch a circle head and make squiggly tentacles—don’t fuss too much if you aren’t an artist, it’s okay!
  • Add features and write the alphabet all over the octopus.
  • Write the alphabet on the dot stickers too!
