Unicorn Hair Threading

Set out your unicorn with the glitter rainbow pasta beside it. Encourage your child to thread the rigatoni through the pipe cleaners to create hair. This activity is wonderful for strengthening hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, while also stimulating their imagination and encouraging creative play.

Materials

  • Rigatoni
  • Paint
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Glitter
  • Parchment paper
  • Ziploc
  • Thick white paper (I used flat canvas for extra support).

How To

  • Divide the rigatoni evenly into several Ziploc bags, using as many colors as you want.
  • Add a dollop of paint into each bag. Seal and mix it around to coat each pasta noodle.
  • Lay it flat on parchment paper and sprinkle glitter over (while wet so it sticks). Let this dry and work on your unicorn.
  • Trace a unicorn. Start with a horse and add a horn.
  • Paint the unicorn however you wish… Don’t forget the sparkle!
  • When your unicorn is dry, flip it over and tape the pipe cleaners to the back. Make sure that the pipe cleaners line up evenly and are spread out with enough space for the pasta.

You can use cardboard instead of paper, but the colors won’t be as vibrant.
