Christmas Play-Doh

Materials

  • 1 cup of flour
  • ½ Cup Salt
  • 2 Tbsp. Cream of Tartar
  • 1 Tbsp Oil
  • 1 Cup Boiling Water
  • Food Coloring

How To

  • In a bowl combine the dry ingredients (flour, salt, and cream of tartar). Mix with a whisk, and then add the glitter!
  • In a separate bowl, combine the water, oil, and food coloring. Make the color a little darker than you want because you are adding it to a white dry base, which will dilute the color. Then add the colored water to the dry ingredients.
  • Mix with a metal spoon.
  • Remove the Play-Doh and knead with your hands until it is no longer sticky.

Tips with Miss Charlotte

Troubleshooting: If the dough is too wet, add a dash of flour. If the dough is too dry, wet your hands and continue kneading the dough. If the dough is sticky, put a dime size amount of oil on your hands and mix it like lotion, and then knead the dough some more.

The water has to be hot for the chemical reactions to work! If it’s warm, it will not mix.
