Flint Corn Play-doh
Make all-natural 3D art with Play-doh and dried kitchen ingredients!
Materials
- Green construction paper
- Yellow Play-Doh (Purchase, or make your own!)
- Tri-colored corn kernels in a Tupperware container, basket, or tray
How To
- Cut the green construction paper to look like the leaves of corn when pulled back—don’t be intimidated! Just cut two long squiggly leaf shapes and it will do just fine.
- Roll the Play-doh into an oval shape and then flatten it.
- Encourage your child to place the corn kernels on the yellow play-doh corn to fill up the corn cob.

Notice how your child might pinch the corn kernels to pick them up. Watch and encourage them to push, poke, and pound the kernels into the play-doh. These playful acts are wonderful skills they are building that strengthen the fine motor muscles that they will need later on for writing skills!
You can also use this technique with any dried bean, chickpea, or even rice for more Play-doh fun!
