Continuing on…

Travel takes us to a multitude of new, exciting places. However, the worst part of traveling (especially traveling with kids) can sometimes be the actual traveling part! In part two of our two-part series, we will suggest some MORE fun free toddler games and activities to play with your child to make the experience of driving, flying, and generally traveling with kids a much more enjoyable one!

Check out 15 On-The Go Activities For Kids (part 1)

  1. Stickers
Stickers are a great way for your child to express their creativity! Ask them to make a sticker collage about what they are excited for on their trip, or just let their imagination take the lead. This will help them with fine motor skills.
  2. Finger Puppets
Finger puppets can be purchased or homemade! Homemade finger puppet outlines can be found online and colored in before you set out traveling with kids. Finger puppets are a great way for your children to practice songs and stories they may be learning in their online Montessori preschool classes.
  3. Educational Apps
While it is best to keep screen time to a minimum while traveling with kids, it is okay in small amounts. Finding educational apps, free toddler games of the virtual variety, or even a good online summer school can help them keep sharp in their studies in online preschool, while also having fun!
  4. Magnetic Board Games
Magnetic board games are easy to clean up and keep together, and take up less space than traditional board games! These items are excellent for children who have siblings, or for when you and your child are traveling by plane or a bus. Board games in general can help your child learn new rules and practice their social emotional skills.
  5. Seek and Find Books
Seek and find books are an excellent way to keep your little one curious and entertained as you’re traveling with kids. Based on a set of directions, children who are just learning to read can use these books as both a way to practice their reading comprehension skills, and learn how to closely follow instructions in order to find hidden images and objects on a page.
  6. Water Painting
Water painting pads are a great, non-messy option for on-the-go artists! Fill the designated pen with water, and watch your child create a masterpiece. This is another excellent option for little ones to practice drawing and fine motor skills.
  7. Fidget Toys/Poppers
While not necessarily a free toddler game, sometimes simplicity is the key to stress-free traveling with kids! Poppers and fidget toys are widely accessible and still relatively inexpensive, and can allow your child to practice their fine motor skills.
  8. Scrapbooks
When traveling back from wherever you have gone, plan to print out a few pictures before getting on your chosen mode of transportation. This can allow you and your child to relive some happy memories while they decide how they would like to present the pictures on a page of their own creation!
