Helping Your Child Reduce Online Learning Anxiety (Part 1)
Beginning online preschool can be a big change for some children, especially if they’ve grown accustomed to attending school in person. Interacting with teachers and peers online might give some younger students anxiety, which is why the Montessori learning experts from Playgarden Prep have collected some important tips for combatting online learning anxiety here.
Below you’ll find the first part of our series on how to help your child reduce anxiety and make their online preschool classes more fun and relaxed!
Stay Calm
One of the most important things you can do as a parent is lead by example, meaning when your child is frustrated or having issues with their online preschool classes, you remain cool and collected. Online learning can be an adjustment, but the best way to work through the problem and reduce your child’s anxiety is not to become frustrated yourself, calmly address the issue and work towards finding a solution together.
Solve the Issue as a Team
After you’ve calmly addressed the problem with your child, work together with them to figure out the best solution. You can talk through their issue with them and how they feel about it. Then, go over the steps you can both take to address it, whether it be talking to the teacher about a missed assignment or helping them log into their online preschool classroom.
Be Proactive
Another great way to help reduce your child’s online learning anxiety is by being proactive and anticipating some of the problems they might encounter. This could involve a variety of different things, like discussing common issues with their online homeschool teachers, creating a daily schedule for them, setting alarms for class and break times, and more.
