How to Keep Your Child Engaged During the Summer

How to Keep Your Child Engaged During the Summer - Playgarden Online

Summer is here! The weather is nice, school is out, and parents have more time to spend with their children! However, sometimes it’s hard to figure out what to do with them. If you’re not taking a day trip or extended vacation, it’s easy to just put on a movie and let your kids sit inside. While that can be a great activity for the end of the day, we’re here to provide alternative preschool activities to get your kids active during the morning and afternoon!

Games!

There are tons of fun summer preschool games to play with your little one! Here are just a few ideas:

WATER BALLOONS Fill up some balloons with water and head to your backyard or local park. Trying to throw a water balloon back and forth without breaking it is a fun and challenging task and a great preschool game to play. Alternatively, having a water balloon fight is a fun way to not only promote friendly competition, but also stay cool in the hot summer sun when the balloons burst!

FRISBEE Frisbee is a fun preschool game to practice hand eye coordination with your child, plus it gets them moving when they run to catch the disc!

TAG It’s a classic preschool game for a reason! Tag is a great way to teach your little one how to play in a sportsmanly way, plus gets them running around to get their exercise in!

SCAVENGER HUNT If you’re close to a park, setting up a scavenger hunt with your child and a few friends is a great way to challenge their minds, teach them how to work on a team, and get them active as they explore.

Outdoor Activities!

Being outdoors is fun in the summer, and there are so many places to go where you can do just that! Taking a trip to places like the zoo, the beach, or a theme park can make for an excellent day trip and a fun preschool activity. Places like these promote staying active as you walk around and explore, swim, or run around! Places like the zoo can also provide an educational spin on the day’s preschool activity, as your child can learn more about different animals and habitats.

Stay Cool!

If it’s just too hot to go outside, we have just the thing for you. Playgarden Prep offers an indoor playground, plus a series of fun and engaging in-person and virtual enrichment classes, which are great preschool activities for your little one this summer. Learn more here.
