Making Education Count!

When you’re trying to choose a preschool program for your little one, the choices can feel overwhelming! It is tough to determine what the most important part of a curriculum should be with such a variety of options at your fingertips, and with online preschool as an accessible new choice, the possibilities might feel limitless. So what are some things to look for or consider when trying to choose the best homeschool preschool program for you and your little one? Well, something that has been changing the way we look at early childhood education is a concept called “The Creative Curriculum”!

That sounds great — but what exactly is The Creative Curriculum? Is it enhanced arts and crafts? Additional music lessons? The answer is actually neither. One of the most important parts of any learning experience, including into adulthood, is how much knowledge we can retain! All too often, educators, schools, and even parents tend to focus on big goals that may not actually be helpful to your little one’s education in the long term. Sometimes, too many tests on the alphabet, reciting numbers, or spelling tests only test your little one’s short term knowledge. These topics are all incredibly important, but it really does matter how your little one is receiving this information, especially within early childhood education. This is the goal of The Creative Curriculum: to create strategies that help little ones hold onto those key topics. Whether they’re enrolled in in-person learning, online preschool programs, or homeschool preschool, The Creative Curriculum can help your little one.

So what are the hallmarks of this and how will it help? There are a multitude of important elements to The Creative Curriculum. We’ll break it down a bit. To begin with, The Creative Curriculum attempts to be comprehensive, focusing on the development of little ones as a whole. Online preschool is ideally a place for your little one to explore a wide variety of subjects and interests that they’ll very likely be exposed to later on in their education! It’s also important that homeschool preschool programs coincide with the standards of education that are upheld by the state and national programs. The Creative Curriculum should absolutely meet these standards!

Another goal of The Creative Curriculum is to constantly be innovating! Obviously, we have all seen how education has grown and developed over the past few years, even with the introduction of online preschool itself. The Creative Curriculum’s aim is to have educators and teachers work hard to use whatever resources they have at their disposal, as well as new teaching strategies that are conducive to a stronger early childhood education program. What those strategies may look like will most likely differ on a year to year basis — the idea is that the tools grow right alongside your little ones in order to suit them best.

In a similar vein, it’s really crucial that teachers who are employing The Creative Curriculum are paying attention to what strategies work and which ones don’t! Little ones are not all the same, and even when studies and scientific reports come out about early childhood education, it’s important that teachers are responsive directly to the little ones they are teaching. This is especially key with online preschool programs or homeschool preschool, since your little one may learn differently than those who are enrolled in an in-person program.

Additionally, The  Creative Curriculum is meant to help support your little one’s educators as well as the students themselves! Taking care of and trying to monitor the needs of many different children in online preschool, in addition to making sure everyone is learning and absorbing what they need to, is tough! In order to give your little one the best homeschool preschool experience possible, your little one’s educator has to feel supported, too. That’s another benefit of The Creative Curriculum — it’s designed to support teachers as they help support your little ones.

Finally, The Creative Curriculum is developmentally appropriate. Sometimes, folks get so excited about their little one’s learning experience that they forget it can be tough for kids to learn higher level math, complex words, and the like. The Creative Curriculum ensures that little ones’ online preschool learning coincides with their abilities and needs. If they excel at a certain subject, great; The Creative Curriculum will help them nurture that talent! If they are struggling, that’s okay too — The Creative Curriculum ensures that nobody is left behind in the learning journey. Part of what makes The Creative Curriculum helpful for developing young individuals is the focus it places on each child as a whole person, not just who they are within an online preschool or other learning setting. Education is viewed as a multi-faceted endeavor, and book learning isn’t the only way our little ones can learn and grow as human beings! The greatest thing about The Creative Curriculum is the increased attention paid to all areas of development, not just to reading, writing, or math. It’s the perfect way to ensure that your little one is getting a well-rounded, supportive education from teachers who are also being supported! Try Our Online Preschool for FREE!
